    Why Choose Us?

Every patio we build starts with proper base preparation for Georgia's clay soil — 6-8 inches of compacted gravel over geotextile fabric, every time.

We design for drainage first, aesthetics second — because a beautiful patio that floods is a failure.

All work performed by our own experienced crew — no subcontractors cutting corners on your base prep.

    Understanding Patios in Metro Atlanta

A patio is the foundation of your outdoor living space, and in Metro Atlanta's climate, it gets year-round use. But Georgia's conditions — intense summer heat, heavy seasonal rainfall, and expansive clay soil — mean that patio construction requires more than just laying pavers on sand. We've seen countless patios installed by general contractors or DIY homeowners that develop problems within the first two years: pavers shifting and creating trip hazards, flagstone cracking from improper bedding, concrete slabs heaving from clay soil movement, and drainage issues that turn patios into ponds after every storm.

The single most important factor in patio longevity in Georgia is the base preparation. Our clay soil is a terrible foundation for hardscaping — it holds water, swells, shrinks, and shifts with every rain cycle. A proper patio base requires excavating 6-8 inches below finished grade, installing geotextile fabric to prevent clay migration, laying 4-6 inches of compacted crusher run gravel, and topping with 1 inch of leveling sand. Skip any of these steps and your patio will move. We've been called to repair patios that were installed just months earlier because the installer skipped the geotextile fabric and the clay soil pushed up through the gravel base.

Material selection matters just as much as installation technique. Concrete pavers are the most popular choice in Metro Atlanta — they're durable, come in dozens of colors and patterns, and are relatively affordable. Natural flagstone (typically Tennessee fieldstone or Pennsylvania bluestone) offers a more organic, high-end look but requires skilled installation and periodic re-leveling. Stamped concrete provides a seamless look at a lower price point but can crack in Georgia's freeze-thaw cycles (yes, we do get occasional freezes). Travertine and porcelain pavers are gaining popularity for their elegance and heat resistance — an important consideration when summer surface temperatures can exceed 140°F on dark-colored materials.

Beyond the patio surface itself, proper design accounts for grading and drainage (water must flow away from your foundation), transition areas to existing structures, lighting for evening use, and integration with other outdoor features like fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and seating walls. A well-designed patio should feel like a natural extension of your home, not an afterthought dropped in the backyard.

What To Know Before You Start

    Do This

    • Invest in proper base preparation — 6-8 inches of compacted gravel over geotextile fabric is non-negotiable in Georgia's clay soil
    • Plan drainage before design — your patio should slope 1/4 inch per foot away from your foundation
    • Consider how the sun hits your patio throughout the day when choosing materials — dark pavers can be painfully hot in Georgia summers
    • Get a professional design that accounts for future additions like outdoor kitchens, fire pits, or pergolas

    Don't Do This

    • Do NOT install pavers directly on compacted clay soil — they will shift and settle within months
    • Do NOT choose the cheapest installer — base preparation shortcuts are invisible at first but cause expensive failures later
    • Do NOT ignore existing drainage patterns — a patio that blocks natural water flow will cause foundation problems
    • Do NOT use polymeric sand without edge restraints — the pavers will spread and the sand will wash out

    Our Patios Process

Every project is different, but our proven process ensures quality results — from the first consultation to the finished product.

    1

    Design Consultation

We meet at your property to discuss your vision, measure the space, assess soil and drainage conditions, and present material options. You'll receive a detailed design with dimensions, material selections, and a transparent quote.

    2

    Site Preparation & Excavation

We excavate to the proper depth, install geotextile fabric over the clay subgrade, and build up the gravel base in compacted lifts. Edge restraints are installed to keep the patio contained. This is the most important phase — and where most installers cut corners.

    3

    Material Installation

Pavers, stone, or concrete are installed according to the approved design pattern. Cuts are made with precision saws for clean edges. Joints are filled with polymeric sand (for pavers) or mortar (for flagstone) to lock everything in place and prevent weed growth.

    4

    Finishing & Cleanup

We compact the finished surface, seal if applicable, install any lighting or accessories, grade surrounding areas for drainage, and leave the site spotless. We walk you through maintenance best practices for your specific material.

    Patios in Metro Atlanta

Metro Atlanta homeowners enjoy one of the longest outdoor living seasons in the country — typically March through November. This makes patios one of the highest-value improvements you can make to your home. Georgia's climate demands materials that can handle intense UV exposure, heavy rain (50+ inches annually), occasional freezes, and the constant moisture cycling of our clay soil. Popular patio styles in our service area range from traditional brick patterns in historic neighborhoods like Buckhead and Decatur to modern linear designs in newer developments across Kennesaw, Peachtree City, and Newnan.

    Transparent Pricing, No Surprises

Most residential patios projects range from $5,000–$25,000+

Patio costs depend on size, material choice, site conditions, and design complexity. Concrete paver patios typically run $12–$22 per square foot installed. Natural flagstone runs $18–$35 per square foot. Stamped concrete averages $10–$18 per square foot. These include full base preparation, material, and installation.
