soffit & Fascia repair Carrollton , GA

What is the Soffit?

Part of the soffits function is to help ventilate the attic space. The soffit typically features a plain design with small holes, vents that provide air circulation throughout the attic. The air from the soffit pulls heated air and moisture out away from the home. This is a highly important function because moisture in the attic can cause mold, bacteria and rot in the roof decking and rafters.

It’s a good idea to do a visual inspection of your soffits each year to ensure they are in good working order and do not need any caulk, paint or repairs.

What is the Fascia?

The fascia board is hung at the end of your rafters. It usually holds your gutter onto your home and closes the soffit off from the elements. Often times when gutters have been unkept or shingles have been cut to short. Moisture will eventually find it’s way between your gutter and fascia board. This moisture barrier compromises the fascia board and begins to decay leading to rot. If left unchecked, it will eventually fall apart and cause major structural damage to your home.

Fascia boards are THE most common entry points for wildlife in your home. Always keep your gutters clean and do regular inspections to ensure moisture is not destroying your home.
